Micro-credit

Since the early 2000s, the instrument of micro-credit has been the subject of debate in Nigeria. One thing is certain: together with other measures that of micro-credit, if well supported by the institutions, can represent a valid lever for the economic growth of Nigeria. In the first years of its life, SESWo carried out micro-credit activities at an international level. The sector of activity was that of “education”. The target of the loans was represented by families, students and school complexes.

Mato Grosso Operation

Operation Mato Grosso (OMG) is an example of “job education” run by an Italian community since the 1970s in some South American countries.

SESWo supported the management of a school complex in the Andes of Peru (Rapayan), where many young people study and graduate “wood carvers”.

Young graduates can work in local cooperatives or choose to go abroad to work in the wood industry.

Diritti all'Opera

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) is the most translated document in the world. Among the events celebrating UDHR’s 70th anniversary, Nigeria presented a very interesting experiment.. At the United Nations Information Center (UNIC) in Lagos, two students from the Abuja School of the Blind read the “braille” version of UDHR. In this way it will be possible to provide access to the Charter also for people with disabilities, in particular for blind people. SESWo also commemorated the anniversary and organized an opera show called “Rights to the Opera” at a theater in the city where it is based.
